Fishing Rods – Several Types to Consider

Whether you are an avid fisherman or a beginner at this exciting sport, one of the most important pieces of equipment needed when you go fishing is a fishing rod. Today that are a variety of different fishing rods available, and unlike the rods of years ago, they have modern features, such as fishing reels, which improve the likelihood of actually catching fish. Most rods for fishing are somewhere between 6 feet long and 16 feet long, and they have a variety of different capabilities and vary in their performance as well. So, let’s take a closer look at some of the options to consider when you are looking for a new fishing rod.

Cane Pole Rods
If you are looking for something that is rather cheap and simple, then you may want to consider going with a can pole for your fishing rod. They are usually quite small and often are made out of flexible wood, such as bamboo. Just a basic fly line is attached to this pole, and usually they don’t come with reels or any other advanced fishing features either. While cane poles are not the most sophisticated, many people enjoy using them because of their simplicity and they enjoy the cheap prices as well.

Spinning Fishing Rods
When it comes to fishing rods, the spinning fishing rods are probably the most popular rods on the market today. You can use them for lightweight fishing as well as heavyweight fishing. They have been proven to work wonderfully for bass fishing, trout fishing, and even walleye fishing. You can purchase these rods in a variety of sizes, from 5 feet long to about 7 feet long. Often they are used for competitions as well, such as bass fishing competitions, such they are flexible and do well under stress. Even tough and large fly lines are easily handled by this type of a rod.

Jigging Fishing Rods
If you are going to be using heavy baits or heavy lures, or you plan on fishing in really deep water, then jigging fishing rods may be your best purchase. They are made of materials that are solid, which makes them a heavy rod to use. Usually these rods are used in salt water fishing and they are made to hold up even under alternating currents. For target fishing for fish that seem to stay around the bottom of the ocean, such as cod or halibut, these fishing rods are the best option if you want to fish successfully.

These are just a few different types of fishing rods that are available today. As you can see, the rod you choose will greatly depend on the type of fishing that you plan to do. So, carefully consider what type of fishing you want to be involved in, and then you’ll be able to choose the best rod to meet your fishing needs.
